Our Background

How We Got Here

Aquabladz New Plymouth Swimming Club (Aquabladz) is the result of a merger between Aquabladz Taranaki Swimming Club and New Plymouth Aquatics Swimming Club in August 2013.  Aquabladz provides the platform for swimmers, as a club member, to be able to compete in regional and national competitions.​

Taranaki Swim Academy - owned by Mariano Garcia Nani, provides coaching to our club members. Taranaki Swim Academy run all swimming lessons an squad trainings.

New Zealand National Championship Board

When you visit the Methanex Bell Block Aquatic Centre you will see our National Champions listed.

This board goes back to 2000 when Sarah Leppard (Aged 12) became a National Champion in the 100 M Backstroke.  There are so many entries that there are 2 physical boards on the wall and we are still adding people to it.
